New direction: The app can guide passengers to any airport facility

USA. Orlando International Airport has launched an improved mobile app that aims to offer travellers more information, including on the retail and F&B facilities.

Mobile developer M2mobi created the app, which adds a range of features to the maps and way finding that was the basis of the existing version.

A flight status dashboard offers notifications and a directions feature aims to seamlessly guide passengers to any airport facility.

The app remembers travellers’ parking spots and displays the security waiting time related to their gate.

Contextual information is provided on airline counters, gates and rental cars as well as the retail and F&B facilities.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which operates the airport, said offering a mobile app was part of its strategy to enhance the passenger experience and improve customer service.

M2mobi was chosen to develop the app because of its experience in the airport industry and in creating smart travel apps. The company previously developed apps for Amsterdam Schiphol, Dubai and Dallas Fort Worth airports.

“We are very pleased with a strategic customer like Orlando International Airport,” said M2mobi CEO Michiel Munneke. “It proves again how we effectively expand our knowledge and expertise in this sector. This strengthens our position and we hope to deploy many innovations together with Orlando.”

M2mobi and Orlando International Airport said they would continue to collaborate to improve the passenger app.
