Distell adds Deanston single malt to US travel retail offer

Distell is set to add Deanston Highland single malt to its US travel retail portfolio. The whisky will be introduced to the region at the forthcoming Summit of the Americas on the Alexander James booth (813).

Deanston will join Distell’s Islay single malt Bunnahabhain in US airport duty free shops, border stores and cruise lines this summer.

Distell believes Deanston’s Highland single malts will quench a thirst for aged whiskies, a trend which is prevalent in travel retail at present

Four expressions of Deanston will be presented in Orlando, including Deanston Virgin Oak, Deanston 15yo and Deanston 18yo. The 15yo is a limited release organic malt certified by the Organic Food Federation.

Distell Global Travel Retail Americas Regional Business Manager Tony Suarez said: “There is a real thirst for aged whiskies in the world right now and it is particularly keen in travel retail.

“Today’s international travellers are knowledgeable and demanding of authentic premium products and we feel Deanston’s Highland single malts will prove to be very popular with fine spirit aficionados travelling internationally in the United States.”

Distell Travel Retail Director Luke Maga added: “Distell has a tremendous and growing reputation throughout travel retail for producing and marketing some of the world’s finest wines and spirits. The addition of a single malt of the calibre of Deanston only burnishes that reputation further.”

Distell will also showcase its travel shopping-exclusive Bunnahabhain range at the Summit of the Americas. The line comprises Eirigh Na Greine, Cruach-Mhòna and new An Cladach.

An Cladach comes in a 1-litre format and is presented in a gift tube which features an illustration of a fishing boat sailing on rough seas to Bunnahabhain Bay. An Cladach offers scents of caramel and vanilla and flavours of sweet sherry, spices, nuts and a briny coastal undertone. The finish is dry and fruity.

Nederburg’s The Private Collection, exclusive to travel retail, comprises three single varietal wines made with grapes from the winery’s finest vineyards

The travel shopping-exclusive Nederburg Private Collection completes Distell’s Orlando portfolio. The line comprises a cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and sauvignon blanc. A rosé, chenin blanc and pinotage will be added to the Private Collection later this year.

Last year Distell launched a follow-up to its ‘Name them, save them’ campaign to save Africa’s elephants, in partnership with WildlifeDIRECT. ‘Don’t let them disappear’ aimed to raise awareness worldwide through the launch of limited-edition bottles without the African elephant on the label. Every 15 minutes an elephant disappears and by 2030 Africa’s elephants could be extinct.
