Stéphane de La Faverie promoted to Group President at The Estée Lauder Companies

de La Faverie will oversee The Estée Lauder Companies’s new artisanal and luxury fragrance cluster, while continuing as Global Brand President of Estée Lauder and Aerin

The Estée Lauder Companies has promoted Stéphane de La Faverie to Group President, one of a series of top-level leadership changes announced this week.

As Group President, de La Faverie will oversee the Jo Malone London, Aramis and Designer Fragrances, Le Labo, Darphin, Lab Series, By Killian, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, Rodin olio lussio and Prescriptives brands. He will also continue as Global Brand President of Estée Lauder and Aerin.

He reports to The Estée Lauder Companies President and Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Freda for his role as Group President; and reports to The Estée Lauder Companies Executive Group President Jane Hertzmark Hudis (herself just promoted to that role) for his responsibilities with Estée Lauder and Aerin.

In his new role as Group President, de La Faverie will lead The Estée Lauder Companies’s newly formed brand cluster, which is focused on luxury and artisanal fragrances. He will leverage his skincare expertise to drive the company’s fragrance enterprise strategy and drive brand differentiation for ‘cult-favourite’ brands in this category. He will also lead the new cluster’s growth strategy in China and travel retail.

de La Faverie was appointed Global Brand President of Estée Lauder and Aerin in 2016. He was instrumental in growing Estée Lauder’s global performance across all demographics and channels. He developed the flagship brand’s hero strategy, which helped launch some of its most popular franchises including the Advanced Night Repair range and Double Wear collection.

He continues to develop its aspirational positioning through creative storytelling and disruptive partnerships. This includes notable collaborations with streetwear designer Kith and Japanese graffiti artist Lady Aiko.

Prior to this, de La Faverie was Global Brand President of the Origins and Darphin brands. In this role, he led Origins’s rapid digital expansion in China and reinvigorated its North American presence. He was also instrumental in developing the company’s fragrance portfolio and served as Senior Vice President/Global General Manager of Aramis and Designer Fragrances.

“Stéphane has extensive expertise leading brands, making him well suited to the significant leadership responsibilities of the Group President role,” commented Fabrizio Freda. “As Global Brand President, Estée Lauder and Aerin, he has been the ideal leader to bring our company’s iconic namesake brand into an incredible phase of broad-based growth.

“His well-deserved promotion reflects his excellent track record of building and leading global brands, his expertise across categories and channels, and a keen understanding of local relevance.”
