Moodie Davitt Spotlight series: Dior’s declaration – To win the battle on skincare

The Moodie Davitt Report today proudly publishes the latest edition in our popular Spotlight Series eZine, entitled ‘Dior’s declaration – to win the battle on skincare’.

This special issue continues the fascinating story of the development of Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy, first revealed to the world in a dedicated Moodie Davitt eZine in January called ‘Dior’s Greatest Discovery’.

In this follow-up publication we report on how Capture Totale is spearheading Dior’s drive to win the battle on skincare. In one of the most thoughtful interviews you are likely to read this year, Dior Scientific Communication and Environmental Director Edouard Mauvais-Jarvis tells Martin Moodie about the creative process and his relentless search for improvement.

And COVID-19? Has it played havoc with Dior’s plans? Commercially, of course, 2020 has been a battle in many markets but Mauvais-Jarvis insists that the reshaping of consumer values in the wake of the pandemic has accentuated Capture Totale’s allure as very much a product for its times.

“More than ever, we need skincare that is performant and that really helps the skin to stay healthy in this challenging world. We were already there [pre-COVID-19] but maybe not expressed in this way,” he says. “We were already on the right path and then it became even more relevant, after what has happened.”

Olivier Dubos and Charles Chen praise a very tangible partnership and salute the rise of travel retail in China

We also talk to Parfums Christian Dior Senior Vice President Travel Retail Olivier Dubos, who like so many of his sector peers is very much focused on China in general and Hainan in particular.

Dubos has particularly warm words for the spirit and success of the partnership that Dior has struck with China Duty Free Group (CDFG), noting: “Under the strong leadership of President Charles Chen, CDFG is blazing the trail thanks to its visionary take on the development of the Chinese travel retail industry.”

Of the booming offshore duty free business, Dubos notes: “Hainan stands at the forefront of the resurgence of the travel retail business. It is, without a doubt the best place to be to contemplate the future of travelling.

“It is only a beginning. The digital capabilities, the impressive power and alliances of CDFG will define a new world, pioneering Travel Retail 2.0. All along with the recent announcement putting again Hainan in focus with an incredible ambition.”

Charles Chen returns the plaudits, commenting: “We are really happy to have the exciting strategic partnership with Dior. China still has great opportunities with huge potential, even during the current difficult time.”

Enjoy this special edition with our compliments.
