Heinemann installs Coindrum coins-for-shopping vouchers units at Berlin Schönefeld

GERMANY. Heinemann has partnered with Coindrum to install self-service currency exchange units at Berlin Schönefeld Airport.

The Coindrum kiosks allow passengers to deposit leftover coins before departure and receive a duty free shopping voucher worth 10% more than the deposited coins.

The units are located at the Heinemann Duty Free stores in both major terminals.

“Heinemann is dedicated to always delight its customers,” said Heinemann Co-Owner Gunnar Heinemann, who noted that the Berlin kiosks would serve as test units before a wider roll-out is considered.

“[It] is yet another way for us to delight our customers with an innovative service and also generates a positive business impact by offering an additional incentive to start browsing our product selection.”

Coindrum has already partnered with Dufry, ARI and International Duty Free at airports around Europe. “We turn the pain point of leftover coins into extra value for passengers by offering vouchers that are of higher value than their cash deposits,” said Coindrum CEO Lukas Decker. “It’s a service that commits passengers to start shopping which measurably and significantly increases revenue for our retail partners.”

At the launch ceremony in Berlin Heinemann Retail Manager Steffen Jopp stated: “Heinemann is committed to continuously improving the customer experience. Our Coindrum partnership achieves this by solving the leftover coin inconvenience and also boosts sales at our tills once passengers are engaged in the shopping experience we offer.”
