UAE. John Sime has stepped down as Vice President for Retail Services at Emirates Airline.
Emirates SVP for Catering Joost Heymeije will oversee inflight duty free operations on an interim basis, while a replacement for Sime is found.
Scotsman Sime spent 20 years at Emirates, playing a key role in the company’s emergence as a major retail player, and during that time also served a term as President of the Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA).
After handing in his resignation in November last year, Sime and his family relocated to Spain. The Moodie Davitt Report understands he has taken up a position in the family business outside travel retail.
