MIDDLE EAST. Emirates Airline Vice President Duty Free Services John Sime has been elected as President of the Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA), following the organisation’s Annual General Meeting this week in Dubai.
Sime replaces Anthony Chalhoub, who completed his term in office. Sime said: “My personal thanks go to Anthony for his stewardship of the board for the last few years. He has done a remarkable job. Thanks also must go to the incoming board for electing me as President. I thank them for the confidence that they have placed in me.”
Chalhoub thanked the outgoing Board members for their support and contribution to making MEDFA a success. He welcomed the new board members and wished the new President and the officers elected the best of luck in running the association.
Vice President is Dubai Duty Free’s Sean Staunton, while Dufry’s Erik van der Veen is named Treasurer. The committee will serve a two-year term from April 2011 to April 2013.
Taleb Izmigna of Aldeasa Jordan Airport Duty Free Shops Ltd has been appointed as Secretary General of the association.
