Denizen extends travel retail network at airports and inflight

Souvenir jewellery specialist Denizen has partnered with Flemingo Travel Retail Limited to enter the travel retail market in India. Separately, the brand has secured listings onboard three major Chinese carriers as it expands its industry presence.

Denizen’s India Collection launched in January with Flemingo-owned Mumbai Duty Free at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 3.

Making its debut in ‘incredible India’: Denizen presents its India Collection at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The range of rhodium-plated, stainless steel bracelets and necklaces features Denizen’s cutout designs in various colours. Prices range from US$49 to US$59.

Denizen Duty Free Director Estelle Baumann said: “2019 is a meaningful year to give India its own Denizen collection as the nation celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Republic and the 150th anniversary of Gandhi’s birth.

“Mumbai is our entry door to ‘incredible India’ and we are already discussing with other airport locations to create their exclusive collections.”

Denizen collaborated with China Sales Group to secure inflight listings just in time for Chinese New Year celebrations.

Denizen says its inflight listings mark a milestone in the brands development in China.

Its Double Happiness bracelet, which targets travelling couples, is available on Air China and Hainan Airlines flights. China Southern Airlines is featuring an 18ct rose gold-plated pendant with a Chengdu panda design. The panda is a Sichuan mascot and a symbol of peace, harmony, good fortune and friendship.

“Our presence on board these three major airlines is a milestone for our development on the Chinese market and in Asia in general,” Baumann added.

“We designed these symbols as popular lucky charms for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. Our original patented concept is about map cutouts but considering the Chinese don’t necessarily relate to their nation as a whole, rather cherishing regional roots, we are working on pieces depicting local landmarks for upcoming summer listings.”

As reported, Denizen was a first-time exhibitor at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes last year.
