Wild Tiger Beverages reveals a ‘GINtrinscially’ Indian craft gin

Wild Tiger Beverages, producer of Wild Tiger Rum from India, has entered the craft gin business with a new Gindia expression.

Gindia has already secured listings with eight top travel retailers.

Produced at Wild Tiger’s distillery in Kerala, India, Gindia is distilled from grain and dubbed an ‘Indian-style gin’. The spirit (43% ABV) features 23 botanicals including Himalayan Juniper, Assam Tea, green cardamom, black pepper, clove and orange peel.

The RRP for 1-litre is US$39.95. Wild Tiger said the gin’s roll-out will be supported with GWP gin glasses and HPP promotions at selected airport locations.

Wild Tiger Beverages Founder Gautom Menon said: “We have been working on this for nearly two years with a scientific approach, and finally we go into full production in the New Year.

Gin-credible readers’ competition

Readers can win a bottle of the new Gindia gin in a customised box with their name adorned on it by entering our fun contest.

Just answer the following questions correctly by email, headed Gindia & Tonic to Martin@MoodieDavittReport.com by 11 December. All correct entries will go into our prize draw. You must work in the travel retail or aviation sector to qualify.

  1. In which country and century was the G&T recipe created?
  2. What is the main ingredient in tonic water which helps against malaria?.
  3. What is the base flavour of Gin?
  4. Where is the origin of the Juniper berry used in Gindia Gin?

“We have been showcasing it to buyers in the duty free industry, importers and distributors for a few months now, and the response has been encouraging. Already, we have confirmed listings with eight out of the top 20 global duty free operators for Gindia Original.”

Menon said he conceived the idea of a “quintessential Indian gin” in 2008 but wanted to establish Wild Tiger Rum on the market before extending the brand’s portfolio.

“Like rum, gin evokes a seamless and spectacular story of India. India is the botanical capital of the world; no other gastronomy uses as many spices as Indian cuisine does. What’s more, gin is going through an extraordinary growth period worldwide,” Menon said.

He underlined India’s claim as the birthplace of the popular Gin and Tonic. “What was missing was a 100% made-in-India craft gin, so now is a great time to introduce Gindia to the world. Our tagline, ‘GINtrinscially Indian Gin’, captures the attributes of this unique gin brand impeccably.”

Gindia is presented in a pearly white bottle made from recycled glass. Its design depicts the key botanicals in eco-friendly inks. ‘Dia – The Gin Goddess’, the brand’s mascot, was developed by Wild tiger designers Paul George Vedanayagam and Deva Slvaraj.
