Whyte & Mackay to unveil Fettercairn travel retail exclusives in Cannes

Whyte & Mackay has reaffirmed its commitment to both travel retail and the recently relaunched Fettercairn brand by announcing a pair of travel retail exclusives.

Following the relaunch of the Fettercairn brand at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes last year, this year’s show will see the two travel retail exclusives (Green, M52).

“We are answering the travellers’ thirst for newness” – Whyte & Mackay Travel Retail Director Richard Trimby

The duo will be released in the first quarter of 2020

The travel retail exclusives – a 16yo and a 23yo single malt – will showcase the tropical fruit style that is derived from the brand’s distillation process where the stills are filled with mountain water, the company said.

Whyte & Mackay Travel Retail Director Richard Trimby commented: “We are answering the travellers’ thirst for newness. We know that single malt consumers in global travel retail like to discover new flavours and find hidden gems, especially ones that are exclusive to the channel.

“We’re building on the momentum of the Fettercairn relaunch last year with these two new travel retail exclusives and by committing additional support in the channel for the established expressions.”

The relaunch of the brand in 2018 brought with it a more premium brand identity, bottle and packaging. Also available in the range are Fettercairn 12yo Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Edition, a 28yo, a 40yo and a 50yo. Whyte & Mackay has announced a heightened focus for the 40yo with in-store plinths to drive hero visibility.

“To grab the attention of whisky enthusiasts, we have worked hard on making our expressions stand out on the shelf with our distinctive storytelling and new brand identity, bottle and packaging. We look forward to sharing all of these new Fettercairn developments with buyers and travel retail colleagues in Cannes,” Trimby said.

Elsewhere in the Whyte & Mackay portfolio, a new travel retail exclusive collection of three single malts from The Dalmore will be launched in Cannes.
