GERMANY. WHSmith has opened its first news & books store at Cologne Bonn Airport. The 280sq m shop is located near the central security checkpoint landside.
On offer is a wide range of German and international reading material, from daily newspapers and magazines to bestseller books. Also available in the store are travel accessories, souvenirs, toys and technology gadgets, non-alcoholic drinks and a selection of takeaway snacks.

A further 210sq m WHSmith store will open in Terminal 1 airside next week.
Flughafen Köln/Bonn Managing Director Torsten Schrank said: “We are delighted to have attracted WHSmith, an internationally successful specialist in travel bookshops. In the two modern, open-plan shops, our passengers will find everything that they need for a relaxed journey.”
WHSmith International Business Development Director Andrew Thomas said: “We are delighted to open our first shops at Cologne Bonn Airport. The shops offer customised ranges for passengers in Cologne Bonn, but at the same time they are an important addition to our growing presence on the German market.”

WHSmith now operates more than 590 bookstores at airports worldwide.
