WHSmith opens first InMotion store in Australia at Perth Airport

AUSTRALIA. WHSmith has opened the first InMotion store in Australia at Perth Airport’s Domestic Terminal (T4). The store offers headphones, power and technology accessories.

It follows the news last week that InMotion has opened at Alicante-Elche Airport, the first store from the digital accessories travel retailer to open at a European airport. InMotion was acquired in 2018 by WHSmith and is the largest airport-based digital accessories retailer in North America.

A new concept comes to market: At the InMotion opening on 21 June were (left to right): WHSmith Australia Development Director Craig Pring; Perth Airport Chief Commercial Officer Kate Holsgrove; WHSmith Australia Managing Director Carl Hargrave; Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown; Perth Airport General Manager Retail Rebecca Cook and WHSmith Group CFO and COO Robert Moorhead

WHSmith Australia Managing Director Carl Hargrave commented: “We are proud to develop our partnership with Perth Airport and to bring the highly successful InMotion experience to passengers in Perth Airport’s Terminal 4. We are excited to be able to provide InMotion’s special personalised shopping experience which will be hard to match in travel retail.”

WHSmith also recently opened its latest WHSmith-branded store at Perth Airport’s Domestic Terminal 4. This features a Long Shot Café and Bar, “creating a Sense of Place and showcasing best- in-class activations via numerous digital screens” according to the retailer. Two of these digital screens are dedicated to highlighting local events, organisations and notable Western Australian people to passengers visiting the store.

The Long Shot Café and Bar provides specialist coffee, alcoholic beverages and a selection of West Australian produce from local suppliers, such as Fremantle Chocolate and Mondo Nougat.
