Vino Volo brings a taste of the wine country to Denver Airport

Vino Volo CEO and Founder Doug Tomlinson at the 2011 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference and Awards

US. Denver International Airport has opened wine lounge and restaurant Vino Volo in Concourse C, near Gate C49. Another Vino Volo will open in the coming weeks in Concourse A near Gate A49.

The new concept combines an upscale wine lounge and restaurant offering hand-selected regional and global wines by the glass and in tasting flights.

Vino Volo (derived from “wine flight” in Italian) offers an “elegant” food menu inspired by the wine country, featuring dishes such as locally-produced artisan cheeses, dry-cured meats, smoked salmon rolls, and chorizo & chickpea chili. All dishes are available to dine in or take away. Vino Volo also offers a Wine Passport Club for enthusiasts.

For two successive years it has shared the “˜Best Airport Wine Bar’ accolade at the annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards run by The Moodie Report and sister title The Foodie Report.

The company was founded in 2004 by Chief Executive Officer Doug Tomlinson with the strategic vision of becoming “the world’s favorite wine destination”, by making wine approachable and accessible to novices while also introducing new wines to experts.

Denver International Airport’s concession programme covers 167,457sq ft including 147 retail and dining concessions. In 2011, the concession programme generated over US$260 million in annual gross sales and over US$44 million in revenue to the airport.
