FINLAND. Joining forces in a landmark Trinity partnership, luxury Italian jeweller Bulgari, retailer Dufry and Finavia Corporation have opened a first-of-its-kind airport pop-up store at Helsinki Airport today.

The pop-up store highlight’s Dufry’s strong relationship with Bulgari and Finavia, says Dufry Managing Director for Finland & Sweden Karl Walter

Operated by Dufry, the jewellery, watches and accessories pop-up store will serve the 18 million passengers travelling through the Finnish hub in 2017; a gateway between Europe and Asia via Finnair’s extensive network, especially for Chinese passengers.

Finavia has invested significantly in services, especially for Chinese passengers, says Finavia Vice President and Commercial Director Elena Stenholm (pictured middle)

Finavia Vice President and Commercial Director Elena Stenholm said: “We are proud to have the magnificent and contemporary Italian jeweller and the master of coloured gemstones, Bulgari at Helsinki Airport. Helsinki Airport is the leading Northern European airport for long-haul traffic and an important transfer hub in the whole of Europe. We focus heavily on the Asian market and hence, we have invested significantly in services especially for Chinese. We want to offer our quickly growing Asian and international clientele a smooth journey and a high-class passenger experience, all under one terminal roof.”

Dufry Managing Director for Finland & Sweden Karl Walter commented: “The extended pop-up shop will be available to passengers in the non-Schengen-area of Helsinki Airport for at least one year. It represents another innovative retail concept, created as a result of the strong relationship we have with Bulgari and Finavia.

“With our decades of experience in the travel retail sector, we know that it’s important for customers at airports to be able to purchase premium products that represent the ultimate in terms of quality, as is the case here with Bulgari at the Helsinki Airport.”

The collections displayed in the Bulgari pop-up invite travellers to discover the brand’s roman heritage

Bulgari Travel Retail Europe Director of Sales and Marketing Roberto Marino continued: “This pop-up concept provides an excellent opportunity for our brand to be showcased to passengers and add variety and uniqueness to their shopping experience at Helsinki Airport. The design as well as our different collections are invitations for our customers to travel to the eternal city, feel the dolce vita and discover more than 2,700 years of roman heritage that inspires Bulgari.”

Helsinki Airport is currently undergoing an extensive €900 million expansion project with the aim to strengthen its competitive position and expand passenger capacity to 30 million. The project will see the terminal expanded by 103,000sq m. The number of bridge gates for wide-body aircraft will be doubled from eight to 16, and baggage handling capacity will increase by +50%.
