TRI-POD Series 2: In conversation with Lagardère Travel Retail’s Bruno Gouisset

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I’ve witnessed your suffering
As the battle raged high
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

This episode of TRI-POD, The Moodie Davitt Report video podcast series in association with The SEVA Group, features Bruno Gouisset, Executive Vice President Merchant at Lagardère Travel Retail & Duty Free Global, a key role for the French travel retail powerhouse.

Bruno joined the group after a highly successful eight years at LVMH-owned beauty retail chain Sephora and before that a similar period with French retailer Groupe Casino.

Bruno talks with deep insight and passion about his career journey and key moments and influences along the way. His summing up of the early impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on travel retail is particularly powerful and poignant, as he recalls “the day when all the lights of travel retail were turned off two years ago” and the impact on the company, the team and himself.

As always, we take our special guest to the resident TRI-POD desert island. Find out Bruno’s hugely surprising (for a man working for a French company) favourite rugby player; how a famous Dire Straits song finds particular resonance in the pandemic era; and why a famed French novel by Émile Zola, set in a 19th century department store and which Bruno first read at high school had an enduring personal and professional impact.

It’s a superb episode with a warm, insightful and engaging character.
