Travelex captures foreign exchange contract at Perth Airport

AUSTRALIA. Perth Airport has named long-time partner Travelex as the winning bidder for the six-year foreign exchange concession at terminals 1 and 3.

The contract includes six existing stores that will be upgraded as well as three new mobile kiosks across both terminals.

Perth Airport said it conducted “a competitive tender process and was impressed with the very high-quality proposals received”.

“Travelex has demonstrated that it has the ability to evolve the foreign exchange business at Perth Airport and we are delighted to partner for a new concession term,” said Perth Airport Chief Commercial Officer Steve Holden.

“Travelex’s proposal brings innovation and greater choice to Perth Airport’s passengers through new store layouts, real time digital and their kiosk on the move,” he added.

Travelex Managing Director Dion Jensen said: “Throughout the 24 years at Perth we have placed passengers and customers at the heart of everything we do. We’re striving to innovate and bring new experiences to our customers that engage and deliver excellent customer service; our new innovations proposed at Perth continue to demonstrate this.”

Thinking ahead: The new foreign exchange contract follows a major terminal upgrade, with more investment planned

The award follows a A$1billion upgrade to the airport, growing customer satisfaction ratings, and comes as Perth Airport begins talks with airlines for a further A$2.5 billion wave of investment to meet predicted strong passenger growth.

“We will continue to invest in the passenger experience at Perth Airport in advance of the major developments,” said Holden.

“Perth Airport is also planning to deliver new quality retail space in 2018, which will expand the duty free, speciality retail and food & beverage offerings at the terminals, providing more choice for our customers.”

The shape of things to come: Next year will see the addition of expanded duty free, speciality retail and food & beverage offerings across the terminals
