UKRAINE. As support mounts for Travel Retail United*, the fundraising campaign started by The Moodie Davitt Report to help the Ukraine relief effort, we also report today on other responses from the travel retail and wider brand communities to the humanitarian crisis.
As reported, we have now added a Just Giving page to make donations simpler (they can be anonymous or named).
These donations, together with those already received have seen the fund rise encouragingly.
Former BAA Group Retail Director Brian Collie and his wife Josie, who noted the travel retail industry’s proud humanitarian heritage. are among those who have given generously.
Travel retail as a community can do more. Scroll down for full details of how you can contribute.
International Diplomatic Supplies
International Diplomatic Supplies (IDS) Chief Executive Patrick Doyle posted on LinkedIn today that his company is returning its outstanding quota for duty free goods to the Russian Embassy in London today.
He said, “They represent a government that are wilfully targeting and murdering woman and children in Ukraine. The profit is just not worth it.”

*How you can support Travel Retail United
- Donors can donate anonymously either through The Moodie Davitt Report or direct via Just Giving below
Or
- As reported, The Moodie Davitt Report is also producing a special apolitical publication to accompany the project. Instead of traditional advertising, donors (individuals or companies) can provide an image (photo, painting or drawing) or a piece of writing (poem, excerpt or original message) to appear besides a subtly positioned brand logo (if required).
There is no fixed price for any donation or advertisement but please be as generous as possible. The Moodie Davitt Report will be making a substantial cash donation as well as absorbing all freelance design, editorial and distribution costs. Every cent raised will go to the fund with appropriate documentation provided to each donor.
To donate/pledge or for more details of invoicing and payment arrangements, please contact Martin Moodie at Martin@MoodieDavittReport.com
Or
- Go direct to our Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/travelretailunited (if you wish your message to appear in our Travel Retail United publication simply notify Martin Moodie)
The French travel retailer has launched a global employee donation campaign with all sums collected being doubled by the company. The company is also making it possible for many store customers to make a donation with their payment.
Lagardère Travel Retail said: “As a global company reaching the lives of millions in the communities we serve, we have a responsibility to take action and support the people of Ukraine.”
The funds collected will be directed to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, which has a long-standing experience of supporting displaced communities across the world.
“These add to the many local initiatives already developed by our teams,” the company said. “Our thoughts also go to all the colleagues and business partners who have been impacted by these events. We are here to help, whatever they need.
“Lagardère Travel Retail is committed to having a positive impact in the world. We are joining the global surge of solidarity and leveraging the strength of our network to make a difference and bring some relief to all women, men and children who are suffering from the crisis. We are standing for them.”
