Travel Retail Fine Wine Alliance launches pioneering promotion with Heinemann at Düsseldorf Airport

GERMANY. The six members of the Travel Retail Fine Wine Alliance (TRFWA) have unveiled their first joint in-store promotional activity in collaboration with Gebr. Heinemann at Düsseldorf Airport.

Until the end of this month, travellers have the opportunity to taste wines from the wineries of the TRFWA members in two distinct and stylish bars located at the retailer’s stores in terminals B and  C.

TRFWA describes these installations as “a unique opportunity for wine lovers to have a taste of different terroirs and wine styles from six different areas in the world”.

The tasting range includes Cono Sur’s Organic Cabernet/Carmenere/Syrah from Chile; Masi’s Nectar Costasera Amarone from Valpolicella in Italy; Famille Perrin’s Miraval Cotes-de-Provence Rosé from France; González Byass’ Cava Vilarnau Brut Nature Vintage from Spain; Albert Bichot’s Moulin à Vent Le Roc from Bourgogne in France; and Symington’s Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port from the Douro Valley, Portugal.

The appearance of the tasting bars was timed to coincide with many members of the world’s wine community passing through Düsseldorf Airport for Prowein, the world’s biggest international wine fair, held in the German city annually.

TRFWA said: “Our goal is to elevate the wine knowledge and the overall quality of the proposal within the travel retail channel. We are proud that for the first time we brought the message directly to the final consumers.

“We thank Gebr. Heinemann for offering us this opportunity as well as the agencies who supported us – Pioneers Production for the design and WeCan for the in-store tasting activation.”

Gebr. Heinemann Marketing Director Jens Peter Peuckert commented: “We are delighted to be working with our trusted partners from TRFWA to bring the tasting bars at Düsseldorf Airport to life.

“Wine lovers can now explore new wines in a relaxed environment, and this venture provides us with the perfect opportunity to showcase our commitment as a valuable travel companion.”

The six members of the Travel Retail Fine Wine Alliance will be exhibiting at the upcoming TFWA Asia Pacific (APAC) Conference & Exhibition in Singapore next month.

González Byass, Cono Sur, Famille Perrin – Miraval, Masi and Symington will be present on a joint stand (B2-F19) while Albert Bichot is exhibiting from the Duty Free Global stand (B2-F10).

The Alliance said of the event: “TFWA APAC represents the best window to showcase the wineries’ historical prestigious wines and some of the most recent introductions in the travel retail channel.” ✈
