“This is prosecco’s time”: SSP and Bottega partner for Birmingham Airport bar

UK. SSP UK has partnered with Italian drinks brand Bottega to open a prosecco bar at Birmingham Airport.

Bottega Prosecco Bar, which will start welcoming travellers later this week, aims to recreate the atmosphere and ambiance of a typical Venetian Bacaro bar.

The prosecco bar is the eleventh Bottega has opened worldwide, and the first in the UK

It will offer a range of wines, traditional finger food and other specialities. SSP said dishes that are “popular with airport passengers” will be given an Italian twist. An Italian breakfast menu completes the offer.

“This is definitely prosecco’s time, and this new bar is completely on trend,” said SSP UK & Ireland CEO Simon Smith. “We are certain that it will be a fantastic addition for all our customers at Birmingham Airport [and] we are delighted to be working with Bottega.”

Bottega owner and Managing Director Sandro Bottega commented: “This concept, which aims to promote and enhance the reputation of our country in the enological and gastronomic fields, reflects the core values of Bottega.

“We advocate the importance of a healthy lifestyle, based on varied and unsophisticated food, which is innate in the Mediterranean diet. We also believe in the pairing of food and drink, which is why we have created our own food and wine combinations.

“I am particularly delighted to partner with SSP, whose knowledge and experience in the airport market and knowledge of the travelling consumer will I’m sure help to ensure the success of this new venture.”
