“The very best in rail and airport food & beverage”: SSP Group celebrates its FAB Awards

INTERNATIONAL. SSP Group has hailed its success at the recent FAB Awards where it claimed three major international accolades, along with five regional and two highly-commended awards.

The FAB Conference & Awards, organised by The Moodie Davitt Report and sister title The Foodie Report, took place last month in Toronto.

As reported, SSP won the following major awards at the 22 June ceremony.

  • Airport Upscale Dining Restaurant of the Year – Lift Bar & Grill, Vancouver International Airport;
  • Individual Food and Beverage Offer of the Year in a Railway Station – Gino D’Acampo – My Restaurant, London Euston Station;
  • Dining Transformation Award for Railway Stations – Raildaba, Travel Travel Food Services at Visakhapatnam railway station.

“These awards recognise the very best in airport and rail food and beverage,” said SSP Group CEO Kate Swann. “It is an honour that these outlets have been named the finest in their class, and the wins are testimony to SSP’s high standards across the globe.”

Vancouver Airport Authority Vice President Commercial Development Scott Norris commented: “We are thrilled that Lift Bar & Grill, operated by our partners SSP America, was recognised as the best upscale dining restaurant of the year at the FAB Awards – very well deserved!

“Lift opened at [the airport] in December 2016 and features chef-inspired plates that highlight unique West Coast flavours. We continue to receive great feedback from our passengers and it is in large thanks to SSP America’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences which is a top objective at [the airport]. Congratulations to the whole team!”

Network Rail Property Commercial Director Hamish Kiernan added: “Network Rail stations are no longer places where people only come to travel; they are destinations in their own right and our excellent retail offer means more people are coming to our stations to shop, meet and eat.

“This prestigious award reinforces the quality of our food & beverage offer and we are exceptionally proud that fantastic dining experiences, such as that found at Gino D’Acampo – My Restaurant, have found their home in our stations.”

Italian celebrity chef and media personality Gino D’Acampo commented: “Bringing My Restaurant to a rail station was an exciting new departure for me, and I’m delighted that this lovely venue has been recognised by experts who really know all about food & beverage in stations and airports.”

Aamanns at Copenhagen Airport was regional winner in the Airport Upscale Dining Restaurant of the Year award. Le Grand Comptoir at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport received a highly-commended accolade in the Airport Wine Bar of the Year category.
