‘The Sunset Sessions’ – Diageo Global Travel reveals details of key discussion panels in Cannes

Diageo Global Travel has provided details of its evening discussion sessions to be held at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. These will focus on sustainability, inclusion and opportunity areas for action in travel retail.

The three panels will be hosted jointly by Diageo and The Moodie Davitt Report, and take place at the Majestic Beach Bar, Palais Des Festivals, located next to Beach Village 1. They will run from 5pm to 5.45, chaired by The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie and President Dermot Davitt. Each session will feature a Diageo expert alongside several industry peers as panellists.

The sessions will offer a chance for attendees from across the industry to hear the views of industry leaders on the key topics and how these will affect travel retail. Diageo Global Travel Managing Director Andrew Cowan invites guests to pay a visit, select a sundowner of their choice at the Diageo ENJOY bar before joining one or more of the sessions over the three-night period.

Below is an outline of the three sessions. They respectively promote positive drinking and responsible consumption; champion inclusion and diversity in travel retail through building diverse teams; and encourage sustainable brand action.

Panel 1: Promoting Positive Drinking (Monday 3 October)

Panellists: Dafydd Pugh Williams (Marketing and Innovation Director, Global Travel, Diageo), Ollie Palmer (Commercial Director, Caleno) and Zoe Farmer (Global Retail Director, Gate Group).

The discussion will analyse the importance of promoting positive drinking for sustainable brands. It will look at current and future work, campaigning, experiences and activations that have and will make a difference to consumers and industry peers and partners. It will discuss the rise of non-alcoholic options and how to promote alternatives to drive moderation and balance in drinking.

Panel 2: Sustainable brand action for travel retail (Tuesday 4 October)

Panellists: Jennifer English (Bailey’s Global Brand Director), Tamara Spada (Head of Marketing, Nestlé International Travel Retail) and Nuno do Amaral (Chief Operations and Business Development Officer, ARI).

The conversation will centre around what it means to be a sustainable business partner, manufacturer and brand owner. It will discuss the growing demands and challenges of ESG requirements on retailers, consumer goods and the demands, aspirations and expectations of consumers in this space.

It will touch on how brands can make a difference and the direct impacts of sustainability for customers and consumers. It will also address how brands are changing their approach and adapting the way they make their products.

Panel 3: Driving performance through diversity (Wednesday 5 October)

Panellists: John Williams (Global Scotch Director, Diageo), Sarah Branquinho (Women in Travel Retail & Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Dufry) and Nandhini Srinivasan (Category Head – Wines & Spirits and Perfume & Cosmetics, Flemingo International).

A discussion of why inclusion and diversity are good for business, showcasing examples of where it has led to positive outcomes. The panel will consider where there are gaps and how we can promote change to create opportunities for individuals to progress regardless of gender, colour, ethnicity and more individually and collectively.

The three sessions during the week are open to all.
