The Moodie Davitt Report today reaffirmed its intention to remain a subscription-free industry service as it reveals a strengthening of its leadership in travel retail sector publishing.

Travel retail’s number one publishing house also confirmed its move to a digital-only publishing model to minimise carbon footprint and to reflect reader preferences during the COVID-19 era.

Our popular print on demand service will be available to those subscribers who wish to receive hard copies of The Moodie Davitt Magazine.

Unlike all other international travel retail titles, The Moodie Davitt Report has a wholly ‘free to air’ model, with no subscription fees, subscriber-only pages, padlocks nor passwords.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said, “From day one of our journey we embraced a unique publishing model that married top-quality content with rapid fulfilment and a subscription-free model. Over the past 18 years that formula has earned us a market-leading position across our portfolio of web, e-Newsletter and print and digital magazine titles.

“The COVID-19 crisis has of course placed acute strain on our advertising revenue base, yet not once have we attempted to apply ‘terms and conditions’ to hold advertisers to previous commitments – no matter how close we are to publication. But thanks to the extraordinary loyalty and sense of collaboration among our advertising partners, we believe that our current business model can and should prevail through and long after this crisis, rather than switching to a paid-for service due to economic pressures.

“We believe we are a very rare example of a B2B media offering this quality of service to a global audience, let alone on a complimentary basis. Our encouraging traffic statistics this year underline the fact that, more than ever, during crisis the market requires timely, accurate information but one delivered with industry understanding and that elusive quality, ‘voice’.”

The Moodie Davitt Report has generated strong traffic levels in the last year, spurred by our seven day a week, around the clock coverage since 20 January of the COVID-19 crisis. The ‘website that never sleeps’ generated 784,943 page views over the ensuing 50 days with a +61.6% increase year-on-year for the first two and a half months of 2020.

From 9 July 2019 to 9 July 2020, The Moodie Davitt Report attracted over 4.1 million page views, more than 3.2 million unique page views, and over 1.9 million unique users, according to Google Analytics [in comparison, rival TRBusiness.com, also citing Google Analytics, generated 1,637,959 page views for the same period].

That readership support has helped drive the success of the inaugural Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo, which has attracted a tremendous line-up of exhibitors and visitors with a string of further major announcements to be made in coming days.
