The Moodie Davitt Report launches Cancer Research Fellowship

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report today launched a five-year cancer research fellowship in association with London’s Royal Marsden Hospital.

The £175,000 Moodie Davitt Report EGB Cancer Research Fellowship will help fund various cancer research projects at the Royal Marsden over the next five years. The Royal Marsden is one of the world’s leading cancer research and treatment facilities.

The initials EGB honour loved ones of The Moodie Davitt team who have been lost to the disease: Emma, sister to Chief Administration Officer Victoria Bowskill; Gary, father to Brands Editor Helen Pawson; and Brendan, husband of Advertising Director Connie Magner.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie, who was successfully treated by The Royal Marsden in 2010 and 2011, said: “Cancer will affect one in every two people in coming years. It has already touched the lives of several people in this company and those of many in the travel retail sector. Cancer can be beaten and is increasingly being beaten.

“The key to improving survival rates is research. Research costs money. We are proud to make our contribution in a way that touches the heartbeat of our company.”

This is the company’s second major donation to the Royal Marsden in recent years. In December 2013 The Moodie Davitt Report donated US$202,000 to fund a vital research study into genetic sequencing.
