The Moodie Davitt Report invests in PERFUMIST

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report, the world’s leading business intelligence source for the travel retail sector, has become an investor in PERFUMIST, the world’s N°1 Perfume App.

As reported, PERFUMIST, based in the world’s perfume capital of Grasse, France, launched its first crowdfunding campaign in December to accelerate its already rapid development.

With more than 2 million downloads around the world, PERFUMIST is a reference mobile app that helps consumers find their ideal fragrance, for themselves or to gift, in just a few clicks.

The app is designed for and by consumers, giving users an overview of all the fragrances they might like and making their next perfume purchase simple and enjoyable.

With PERFUMIST, consumers can explore new olfactory horizons, discover the composition of their favourite fragrances, build an individual profile and receive personalised suggestions of fragrances that appeal.

PERFUMIST was founded in 2017 by Frédérick Besson, a successful serial entrepreneur with a deep knowledge of and passion for perfume forged through a career on both the retail and brand side of the industry.

Besson describes himself as part of a new generation of executives who have a modern and innovative vision of perfumery.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “As one of travel retail’s original digital disruptors, we have always championed digital innovation and the use of technology to aid consumer awareness, stretch the boundaries of what is deemed possible, and ultimately grow the travel retail channel.

“I have watched PERFUMIST’s impressive growth over recent years, one that has latterly coincided with burgeoning interest in the world of fragrances – established and niche. In many Asian countries, for example, historically dismissed as non-perfume markets, fragrance sales are booming across all retail channels.

“Much like wine, perfume involves both a creative and consumer journey. The greater the consumer awareness of the category, its thrilling diversity and the artisanship that underpins it, the more successful the world of fragrance will become. We look forward to supporting Perfumist’s own exciting journey.”

Frédérick Besson said: “Moodie Davitt Report X Perfumist is an obvious match. Both companies are on the same mission to help consumers travel around smells, tastes, drinks and emotions.

“We both value our independence and freedom as we place consumers at the centre of our concerns. There is no better playground than an airport or downtown duty free environment to empower consumers and provide the best customer experience.”

“Our duty fee retail partners witness drastic sales increases using PERFUMIST’s online and offline simple tools while also providing a real service to their customers when it comes to finding the right fragrance for oneself or to offer other.

“You have Netflix for the eyes, Spotify for the ears and now PERFUMIST for the smell,” he said. “The travel retail industry is embracing the new digital age and customer service at its best.”
