The Moodie Davitt e-Zine: The house that Severino built

INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to The Moodie Davitt e-Zine – Travel Retail’s Lookbook. In this issue, the spotlight is on one of travel retail’s fastest-emerging forces: Seva Duty Free.

Dutch firm Seva Group recently celebrated the Grand Opening of its first duty free store, a border shop in Metković, Croatia, less than 200 metres from the road crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was not so much the culmination of a dream for Seva Group Founder Severino Pušić but another giant step on an extraordinary and far from completed journey.

Plans are already in place for further stores and Seva Duty Free could be a name we’ll be hearing a lot more in the near future.

The Moodie Davitt Report was in Russia this week for the inauguration of new stores at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport by Imperial Duty Free, the joint venture between the airport and Gebr. Heinemann.

Imperial told us it expects to deliver double-digit growth in turnover and increased average spend from the new stores. We review some of the store highlights through a series of talking points.

In our popular Travel retail’s positive disruptors and innovators column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, we interview Brian Collie, Chairman of fast-growing airport app Flio.

The app this week won the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) + Crystal Cabin Award for ‘Best Customer Journey Experience’. It is another landmark for Flio in what has been a compelling journey and an intriguing aviation sector digital case study.

Please enjoy this edition of the new-look Moodie Davitt e-Zine with our compliments.
