The Irishman 17yo: an exclusive expression available at The Irish Whiskey Collection at Dublin Airport

Walsh Whiskey Distillery is marking 17 years in business with the release of an exclusive expression of The Irishman whiskey.

The Irishman 17yo is a single malt from a single cask, matured for 17 years in a first fill sherry butt.

The Irish Whiskey Collection, run by Aer Rianta International at Dublin Airport, is one of a handful of stores worldwide to secure a limited supply of the new expression. Other partners include Harrods in London and Dugas of Paris.

Walsh Whiskey Distillery Co-Founder and Chief Executive Bernard Walsh said: “This is an historic year in the development of our company with the commissioning of our distillery at the 18th century Royal Oak estate. That landmark warranted a very special release.”

The ‘signature’ of the 17yo is said to be its rich flavour profile. The influence of the sherry cask is present, with notes of dark chocolate, toasted oak and sweet sherried raisins.

The whiskey has been bottled at natural cask strength (54% ABV) without chill filtering.
