The Glenturret reveals 35 Year Old expression and 2023 Core Collection

The Glenturret presents its latest Core Collection, including the new 35 Year Old rare single malt

The Glenturret, the single malt Scotch whisky produced at Scotland’s oldest working distillery, has revealed its 2023 Core Collection, featuring a new 35 Year Old expression.

This year’s collection comprises The Glenturret Triple Wood, 7 Years Old Peat Smoked, 10 Years Old Peat Smoked, 12 Years Old and 15 Years Old. These expressions are now available at selected retailers and distributors and online.

The line-up also highlights three rare single malts – 25 Year Old, 30 Year Old and 35 Year Old. A selected number of bottles of this scarce collection will be available for pre-order sales, with bottles ready for delivery in late summer.

The collection was crafted by The Glenturret’s Whisky Maker and Whisky Hall of Fame inductee Bob Dalgarno.

Among its rare releases for this year is the 25 Years Old, which the company said has fast become a collector’s item since it was introduced in 2020.

This expression was produced from six casks stowed in The Glenturret’s traditional Dunnage warehouses for a quarter of a century. The influence of European oak offers rich fruit, aromatic spices and oak notes, while American oak adds sweetness and vanilla and refill casks bring a hint of citrus. Only 210 bottles will be available worldwide.

With only 500 bottles, the 30 Years Old derived its flavour profile from five older casks. The European oak cask combines the traditional rich fruit flavour with notes of brandy and ginger, while a port pipe gives it a warm ruby hue and touches of red fruits. It has been further enriched with the sweetness of tropical fruit salad and bananas that are inspired by the character of the brand’s new make spirit added by two American oak hogsheads.

The Glenturret 35 Year Old makes its debut in the 2023 Core Collection

Completing the 2023 core collection is the 35 Year Old, which is limited to only 185 bottles. It is described as multifaceted yet refined from being matured for three and half decades.

The liquid achieves its complexity from the use of a single European Oak sherry butt. It features the traditional character of dried fruits, combined with spices and oak, and notes of tropical fruit and vanilla more commonly derived from American Oak.

The Glenturret Managing Director John Laurie said: “Bob Dalgarno and our expert team have once more excelled on every level in creating the 2023 Core Collection. The passion, time and energy that has gone into each of the exceptional expressions they have created is something that myself and our whole team at the distillery are incredibly proud of.

“We release a new collection each year, trying to create something special each year, so hopefully our customers will enjoy the new 2023 Collection as much as we do.”
