INTERNATIONAL. The Design Solution has been appointed to assist with design concepts at Aberdeen International Airport, where a transformation of the terminal is planned. This is the 100th airport terminal contract for the leading commercial design company.
Aberdeen Airport’s strategic location close to the North Sea oil fields and as a tourism base has led to strong passenger growth in recent years. It was the fastest growing airport in the UK in 2011 and posted growth of +8% year-on-year in 2012.

Forecast future growth means the terminal must be redeveloped to include an enlarged security search area, larger airline lounges, increased seating capacity and more generous circulation routes. In addition, commercial facilities will be expanded and improved.
The Design Solution has been selected to consult on the transformation of the terminal, which will include a strategic review of the current facilities and a re-planning exercise to create a terminal that will satisfy anticipated passenger growth.

It has been an amazing journey. We have worked in so many countries around the world and it is great to have another project so close to home.”
