“The brightest star on the Baltic Sea” – Tallink prepares to launch latest ferry with strong retail focus

ESTONIA. Tallink Grupp will launch passenger services on its latest shuttle ferry, MyStar, on 13 December, following an inauguration ceremony a day earlier. The €247 million ship, which will service the busy Tallinn-Helsinki route, features 2,500sq m of shopping space in the Traveller Superstore, spanning two decks.

The MyStar shopping arena mirrors that of sister ship Megastar but with some differences.

Highlights include a Nordic Corner and a promotional space for new launches. Overall, it houses 2,500 brands and 30,000 SKUs.

Visitors first encounter 500sq m of perfumes & cosmetics once they enter on deck 8, with new products prominent early in the store. A shop-in-shop zone features brands such as La Mer, Jo Malone and Kiehl’s, with classic brands Dior, Chanel and Lancôme alongside trendy and emerging labels including Benefit, Moroccanoil, Vichy, Nuxe and La Roche Posay.

Fashion & accessories spans 700sq m across the Superstore. Men’s fashions receive a dedicated focus, with brands including Gant, Camel, Tommy Hilfiger, Superdry and a new brand for Tallink, Lindberg of Denmark.

Beauty (above) on deck 8 is a core category for Tallink, with wines & spirits housed on deck 7 (below)

A broad accessories areas features jewellery, watches and handbags across price points with display areas targeting younger shoppers. Here, brands include Vans, Jack and Jones, New Era, Only and Tommy Hilfiger. A fashion pop-up area features a regularly changing selection of goods that are exclusive to MyStar within the Tallink fleet.

Liquor, tobacco and confectionery are found on deck 7, alongside the pre-order zone. Toys and children’s clothing also appear on this level, as do gifts and souvenirs, with a Moomin shop-in-shop among the highlights.

A promotional lounge will feature a changing cast of new products

The design theme for MyStar is the beauty of the Baltic Sea, a story told through various interior cues, colours, furnishings, lighting and through video and photos.

Tallink Grupp said that the vessel will bring “more comfort, style and energy” to a route that served more than 5 million travellers a year pre-COVID.

Alongside the Superstore the ship houses six restaurants and bars, four car decks, and four areas for different classes of travel.

A business lounge is among many other amenities onboard

“Her much-awaited arrival marks the beginning of yet another new era for the Tallinn-Helsinki route, with customer service standards now even higher, passenger comfort even greater and sustainability even more at the heart of our operations.

“The world has changed greatly since we started building our newest fleet member in spring 2020 with more hurdles along the way than we have ever experienced, but we have met all the challenges head on and are happy that our beautiful MyStar has now been completed and will welcome everyone on board from 13 December onwards.”
