TAV Airports consortium seeks master concessionaires for duty free, F&B and lounges at Madinah International Airport

SAUDI ARABIA. Tibah Airports Operation Co,, the TAV Airports-led group that manages Madinah Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz International, has invited potential bidders to tender for the master concessions to manage duty free & retail, food & beverage and lounge spaces at the location.

TAV Airports and partners struck a 25-year Build-Operate-Transfer Agreement (BTOA) with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to run the airport in 2011. Each of the commercial contracts will run from the date of agreement until the end of the BTOA, scheduled for mid-June 2037.

The retail contract covers all duty free and duty paid stores, currently run by ATÜ Duty Free, with F&B managed by sister company BTA (TAV Airports is a shareholder in both)

The duty free concession covers all retail areas at the airport, including duty free, duty paid and other retail, while the F&B contract similarly covers the management of all dining activities. The lounge contract is for the management of international Commercially Important Person (CIP) lounges used by non-Saudi Arabian Airlines guests. Meet & greet services also form part of this concession.

Tibah Airports told The Moodie Davitt Report that the winning candidates will be expected to manage most stores under each concession but would have also the option to sub-lease some of their spaces.

Bid documents can be procured from the airport company until 14 June, with a bid deadline in each case of 18 July. Tibah Airports said it was seeking “reputable and renowned operators” for each of the concessions.

Space allocated to each of these channels is currently as follows:

Retail & duty free (operated by Saudi ATU Ltd.): 3,000sq m

F&B (Saudi BTA Ltd.): 2,200sq m

CIP lounge (TAV OS): 310sq m
