Sweet success for Nuance-Watson’s specialist fine foods store at HKIA

HONG KONG. Taste & Delights, Nuance-Watson HK’s new multi-brand fine foods store at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), has got off to a promising start since its November 2012 opening, the retailer says.

The company described the store as HKIA’s only fine foods standalone shop, where it aims to offer “˜the best of the world” in confectionery and related items.

Nuance-Watson HK told The Moodie Report: “The store is doing well given that it only recently opened. It has successfully captured airport travellers in the West Hall in terms of penetration and shopping.

“We anticipate a more positive result in the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays and we target to sustain sales afterwards. We will be promoting the shop to build awareness and exposure.”

The 119sq m Taste & Delights outlet is located in airside departures in Terminal 1’s West Hall. It features a range of master chocolatier brands, some lines exclusive to HKIA.

Nuance-Watson Asia Regional Managing Director Alessandra Piovesana said: “Opening the only multi-brand standalone fine food shop at HKIA once again validates Nuance-Watson HK’s unique specialist expertise in the confectionery category.

“Leveraging our strong brand partnerships and operational experience at HKIA, plus our merchandising team’s category expertise and insights, we will continue to offer our airport passengers with more unique shopping experiences.

“In doing so, we remain committed to delivering stronger performance by exceeding our customers’ expectations and bringing more added values to our brand partners as well as the airport.”

The range includes Fauchon macarons, foie gras and teas; ultra-premium chocolates from Valrhona; and Venchi, making its Asian airport debut with its 100% made-in Italy artisan chocolates in an innovative “˜pick & mix’ format.

Another first-in-Asia arrival is Charbonnel et Walker, handmade English chocolate endorsed by the Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen; and Hong Kong hotelier The Peninsula’s 5-star delicacies and freshly made bulk chocolate collection.

Further highlights include popular international brand leaders such as Goldkenn, Lindt and Toblerone of Switzerland; Côte d’or, Guylian, Leonidas and Neuhaus of Belgium; Ferrero of Italy; Anthon Berg of Demark; Bendicks of Germany and Walkers of Scotland.

Destination merchandise is represented by Hong Kong specialties from Paton’s exclusive souvenir boxes; Kee Wah’s home-made signature cakes and pastries; and Hong Kong Memories’ gift boxes.
