SSP unveils Jamie’s Deli and Moomin Coffee at Helsinki Airport

FINLAND. SSP has opened two restaurants in the new West Pier at Helsinki Airport. They include the first Jamie’s Deli in Finland and Moomin Coffee, the world’s first Moomin-themed airport café.

The opening of Jamie’s Deli at Helsinki follows others at airport locations including Schiphol.

The menu at Jamie’s Deli, created by the British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, includes hot breakfasts, freshly-made sandwiches, artisan pizza, fresh salads and snacks.

SSP Finland Managing Director Pia Jormanainen said: “The Jamie’s Deli menu consists of meals based on fresh and ethically produced ingredients and prepared at the deli.

“Special attention is paid to every meal and each individual ingredient. We are pleased to again introduce a new restaurant to Finland, with Helsinki Airport as the first location.”

Meanwhile, Moomin Coffee serves a selection of sandwiches, Moominmamma’s pancakes, ice cream desserts, milkshakes, smoothie bowls and salads.

The Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson.

Of the Moomin Coffee opening, Jormanainen said: “Helsinki Airport is a natural location for Moomin Coffee, since Moomins are a big hit among Japanese passengers in particular.

“Of course, there are Moomin fans all over the world, and we welcome all passengers, regardless of their age, to Moomin Coffee.”

SSP said that the bright and colourful decor of Moomin Coffee is designed to be family friendly.

Finavia Vice President and Director of Commercial ServicesNora Immonen said: “The new west pier restaurants provide our passengers with even more options for enjoying a delicious meal before flying.

“With the introduction of Jamie’s Deli and Moomin Coffee, the airport now has a broader selection of international flavours and healthy foods.”

The two new food & beverage additions neighbour each other near gate 40.

In addition to 14 cafés and restaurants, SSP Finland operates five kiosks, two lounges and a VIP and congress service at Helsinki Airport.
