UK. Leading food & beverage operator SSP today opens Bristol Airport’s first table-service restaurant as part of a £7.5 million (US$15 million) redevelopment programme.
Dexter’s Chargrill and Bar was developed in partnership with Clapham House Group in response to changes in the airport’s security facilities and increased passenger dwell time airside. SSP said Dexter’s would meet the changing catering needs of customers with its table service offering.
The launch follows the success of SSP UK’s seated restaurant at Newcastle Airport.
Located airside, Dexter’s is an American-style family restaurant serving a health-conscious all-day menu with an emphasis on ethically sourced products, including burgers and a Superfood Salad.
Dexter’s prides itself on being child-friendly, with a tailored Junior menu developed by children’s food and nutritional expert and best-selling author Annabel Karmel.
Bristol International Airport Financial and Commercial Director Jim McAuliffe said: “The opening of Dexter’s marks the completion of the latest stage in a multi-million pound investment in the food and drink offer at Bristol International, and it widens the choice of refreshment options available to our passengers. We believe the new table-service restaurant will be popular with business and leisure passengers alike, providing good food in a relaxed atmosphere.”
Dexter’s Restaurants Managing Director Tracey Kitchener-Kemp said: “We are very excited about partnering with SSP UK in bringing our restaurant to the airport market, providing our great food for everyone to travellers and their families.”
SSP UK (Air) & Western Europe CEO Nick Inkster added: “We are thrilled to be bringing such a quality brand to Bristol Airport. We believe we’re offering something new and different to passengers at Bristol Airport and it’s great to be playing such an important role in the airport’s exciting redevelopment.”
SSP UK signed a franchise agreement with Clapham House Group to operate the Tootsies and Dexter’s brands in the UK and Ireland airports market in April 2008.
