SSP introduces MASH steak house concept to Copenhagen Airport

DENMARK. Travel restaurateur SSP has introduced a MASH steak house to its food & beverage offer at Copenhagen Airport.

The airport said the venture is part of its strategy to offer passengers the right mix of strong international brands and “solid local heroes”.

Inspired by the successful downtown concept, the airport MASH (Modern American Steak House) restaurant is located in the airside area of Terminal 2.

MASH Co-owner Mikkel Glahn said: “Our vision is to be one of the world’s best steak houses and to cater to the needs and wants of the more particular and quality-conscious travellers at Copenhagen Airport. People will recognise the concept from our other restaurants – it will be perfect for the many business people seeking a quality setting for a working lunch and for leisure travellers looking to kick-start the holiday or weekend getaway in style with a high-quality meal.”

MASH CEO and Co-founder Jesper Boelskifte added: “We are very proud of our concept and are always on the lookout for new and attractive locations. When the opportunity to open a restaurant at Copenhagen Airport arose, we didn’t have to think twice about it. The airport has long been at the top of our list of potential prestigious locations in Denmark.”

Boelskifte said the airport location will strengthen the company’s global brand profile and help open doors in Denmark and in international markets.

The airport said the addition of MASH to the brand mix “mirrors the very essence of Copenhagen Airport’s food & beverage strategy”.

Copenhagen Airports A/S Vice President Sales & Marketing Carsten Nørland said: “We strive to provide the optimal mix of strong international brands and solid “˜local heroes’ at all times. MASH has been one of the strongest Danish restaurant concepts since 2009, and the restaurant complements our effort to convey a strong sense of place. With the opening of MASH, Copenhagen Airport presents a true local hero with international appeal.”

SSP Denmark CEO Henrik Andersen added: “Copenhagen Airport was once again rated Northern Europe’s best airport and the world’s second-best airport in its size category in the latest annual Skytrax survey. A world-class airport needs a world-class restaurant. MASH will clearly help support and strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s position in that respect.”

The new MASH restaurant in Terminal 2, derived from the popular downtown concept, “mirrors the very essence of Copenhagen Airport’s food & beverage strategy”, says CPH
