SSP Group and Travel Food Services expand lounge network with key Malaysia Airports breakthrough

MALAYSIA. Travel restaurateur and services provider SSP Group and partner Travel Food Services (TFS) are to expand their airport lounge portfolio after signing a key contract with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

The agreement, which marks a major breakthrough for the two companies, covers six lounge locations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), low-cost terminal KLIA2 and Kuching International Airport.

The new business will be operated by SSP Malaysia, a joint venture between SSP Group and TFS, which also partners very successfully with SSP in India.

TFS operates 20 lounges in major travel hubs throughout India, including the award-winning GVK lounge at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

Three of the six lounges are located at KLIA, with the partners taking over the International Airside Loyalty Lounge and two First and Business Class lounges.

At KLIA2, SSP and TFS will run the International Airside Loyalty Lounge at Gate L and the International Airside Loyalty Lounge in the Satellite Building. The portfolio expansion is completed with the addition of the Domestic Airside Loyalty Lounge at Kuching Airport.

The lounge experiences will be enhanced with a new range of quality local and international food & beverage offerings, according to SSP.

SSP Asia Pacific CEO Mark Angela said; “This business win marks the beginning of an exciting expansion programme in Malaysia. Our detailed knowledge of this market and strong track record as operators, plus a phased investment plan aligned to the return of travellers, mean that our lounge offerings will be perfectly aligned to the needs of our guests in each of these locations.

“We’re looking forward to working with MAHB on these exciting plans to provide a quality airport experience for travellers, while also increasing our presence in this important market.”

The partners say they aim to elevate the lounge experience at KLIA (pictured), KLIA2 and Kuching airports
