“Spreading the beauty and culture of watches and jewellery” – CDFG, Richemont and FHH sign landmark Watches & Wonders Sanya agreement

CHINA/SWITZERLAND. Yesterday was a red-letter day for China Duty Free Group (CDFG) as China’s leading travel retailer signed a partnership agreement with Richemont and Fondation de La Haute Horlogerie (FHH) to host the world-class Watches & Wonders Sanya event from 29 September to 31 October.

As reported, 11 luxury watch brands – see table below – will present their latest creations in a dedicated space at the centre of the famous CDF Mall.

The parties noted that their joint cooperation demonstrated a shared common vision and strength.

Watches & Wonders Sanya enjoys the strong support of the Hainan Province and Sanya City governments, they added. The exhibition boosts the ambitious Hainan Free Trade Port construction plan and will further promote the development of tourism to Hainan Island.

“Since 2005, the Fondation de La Haute Horlogerie has been committed to the establishment, dissemination and exchange of advanced watchmaking culture throughout the world,” said FHH President Emmanuel Perrin at the signing ceremony. “As the cornerstone of this series of activities, Watches & Wonders sets new industry standards for luxury watch activities.

“China has always been one of the most important markets for premium watchmaking brands, especially Richemont, and the Hainan market has become even more important in the last few months. Watches & Wonders will land in Sanya during the Golden Week, which is a rare opportunity for participating brands to show their work to Chinese customers, establish a direct connection, and present a wonderful immersive showcase in Sanya International Duty Free City, located in Haitang Bay.”

“The cooperation with Fondation de La Haute Horlogerie further reflects our common strategic choice of sharing resources, complementary advantages and forming strong alliances,” said China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation President Chen Guoqiang (Charles Chen).

“It also embodies our common pursuit of displaying and spreading the beauty and culture of watches and jewellery, and fully demonstrates the good foundations and strong desire of cooperation between the two sides.

“I am convinced that, with the joint efforts of both sides and the full support of all parties, this cooperation will present a rich feast for China’s watch and jewellery lovers, usher in ‘China’s time’ in terms of the country’s travel retail market, and create a new level of cooperation between China and the international duty free industry.”
