CANADA. Schönmarke Gold Icewine has unveiled a new 50ml miniature format with its own gold foil gift box. This is designed to encourage consumer trial and impulse purchase.
Terry Moran, President of Schönmarke Gold Icewine, said: “The mini is a great way of bringing new consumers to the brand. The promotional work we’ve done shows that, once travellers taste Schönmarke, there’s a very high level of acceptance, especially among women.”
With a target retail price of US$8.00, the miniature will act as a brand ambassador for Schönmarke’s flagship 375ml reference. Shipments have already begun to a major North American retailer for airport and border store listings.
The launch of the 50ml is the first in a series of promotional initiatives planned for 2006 by the Ontario brand. Schönmarke already has a strong presence in North American duty free.
Schönmarke Gold VQA Icewine is made in Niagara-On-The-Lake from Vidal grapes that have been hand-picked when frozen by the Ontario winter. The grapes’ natural sweetness becomes concentrated and, following fermentation, yields a luscious sweet white wine bottled at 11% alcohol by volume. Filled into a striking cobalt blue 375ml bottle and then packed in a gold foil gift box, Schönmarke retails for around US$50 at most North American airports such as John F. Kennedy International, Chicago O’Hare, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International and Vancouver International.
