Rodenstock gears up for travel retail recovery at TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition

The German eyewear specialist is showcasing its Spring/Summer 2021 Eyewear Collection at the virtual event

German eyewear specialist Rodenstock has said it will highlight its latest products, and showcase the vital role of the sunglasses category in driving channel recovery, at the TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition, which runs from 21 to 24 June.

According to the company, its participation at the regional virtual event underscores its commitment to the importance of the Asian market and particularly China.

Through the COVID-19 crisis, Rodenstock has deepened its partnership with key travel retailers in Asia, most notably China Duty Free Group (CDFG), by unveiling exclusive lines and activations geared for Asian customers.

Rodenstock and CDFG have also partnered to launch the eyewear company’s products on the retailer’s owned social commerce channels, including WeChat.

The company’s Porsche Design brand has proven particularly popular with Chinese shoppers was launched on CDFG’s various digital platforms in April 2020

“The last year has been incredibly challenging for everyone in travel retail and it is wonderful to see the signs of recovery appearing around the world,” commented Rodenstock Global Travel Retail Sales Manager Rebecca Rauner. “The Asian market has been a bright spot for the last 12 months and we are proud to have worked alongside our esteemed partners to keep shoppers enthralled during the downturn.

“But as our thoughts turn to the return of travellers, the sunglasses sector is set to play an increasingly important role. We know that sunglasses are considered an integral part of the travel experience and add to the excitement which shoppers will feel as they come back. With many consumers looking to spend their money more carefully and invest in luxury items, Rodenstock is perfectly placed to meet these customers’ demands,” Rauner added.
