Kreol Travel Retail has hailed the growth of Turkish confectionery brand Sölen in travel retail following a relaunch.
According to distributor (and travel retailer) Kreol, which handles Sölen in the channel, the line was ranked top in food & confectionery sales in December at Dufry-operated Sharjah Duty Free. Sölen accounted for 9.4% of total sales in the category at Sharjah International Airport, claimed Kreol.
Kreol Travel Retail said it had “rekindled” Sölen with a rationalised SKU mix and appropriate pricing and promotion strategies.

Sölen produces chocolate, chocolate-covered snacks, cookies, bars, chewing gum, candy and cakes and is regarded as Turkey’s top chocolate exporting company with a global reach of over 90 countries.
Kreol Travel Retail CEO A.S. Lal said: “As a brand, Sölen has enormous appeal to consumers looking for value-for-money deals when making a confectionery purchase.”
He described Sölen as a “key player” in the industry, thanks to an innovative approach to product range, which includes gifting items and on-the-go chocolate snack bars.

Lal said brand promotion has resulted in high sales growth across all outlets in travel retail.
Kreol Executive Director Kreol Arakulath commented: “Representing Sölen is an exciting project for us because the thought that goes into Sölen’s product design means that we are conveniently equipped with a variety of SKUs appropriate for any and all travellers.”
Kreol Travel Retail represents the brand in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and on the Indian subcontinent.
