Plaza Bali gears up for 2017 opening at Jakarta Airport’s Terminal 3 Ultimate

INDONESIA. Plaza Bali says it is preparing to operate 1,667sq m of retail space at Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport’s new ‘Terminal 3 Ultimate’, when the much-anticipated facility opens fully in 2017.

As reported, the terminal opened for selected domestic flights on 9 August, the culmination of a near US$600 million investment. The full opening is happening in phases, beginning with national carrier Garuda’s domestic flights, followed by the airline’s international operations. Other carriers will then begin operating out of the terminal, which is expected to be fully functional by March 2017.

On 14 July, airport operator Angkasa Pura II announced that local firms PT Aura Cantik and PT Dewata Agung Wibawa (Plaza Bali) had been awarded the duty free concessions for Terminal 3 Ultimate. The companies headed stiff local and international competition, including the local partnerships of Dufry, Lotte Duty Free and DFS.

As at T2, Plaza Bali is operating the shops independently with Heinemann Asia Pacific one of its “special vendors” on the supply front.

Local rival Aura Cantik will run 1,518sq m of space for cosmetics, fragrances, luxury boutiques, watch and jewellery. The company also bid alone, though it is in talks with Aer Rianta International regarding a still undetermined level of partnership.

All of the international airlines gradually will move to the new T3. On the first stage will be Garuda International, followed by all other SkyTeam members* then finally the rest of the airlines (Star Alliance, One World and others).”
