Personal touch: Industry veterans Keith Hunter and Nick Goddard-Palmer launch travel retail consultancy

UK. Industry veterans Keith Hunter and Nick Goddard-Palmer have launched a travel retail consultancy that aims to offer “practical retail solutions on the ground”.

Hunter Palmer – Global Retail Solutions works with airlines, airports, investors, operators and hospitality companies to help develop their strategic positioning and improve business performance.

Keith Hunter co-founded the Hunter-Palmer Partnership “to help fill the void he felt existed in the travel retail marketplace”

“We differ from our competitors because we don’t simply analyse data and form an opinion/strategy, but work personally with our clients to deliver the detail, whether it be building and developing viable, sustainable and award-winning commercial business models, or enhancing and problem-solving within existing business structures, bringing real value and benefit,” the consultancy said.

Hunter and Goddard-Palmer said that the consultancy would offer retailers insight into accommodating passengers’ needs while helping to ensure the relationships between operator, retailer and airline ran smoothly.

“We believe that success comes from understanding the particular challenges and opportunities of airport retail, a totally unique environment. Whether you are an airport operator, owner or investor looking to maximise retail returns, or a retailer looking either to enter the airport market or grow your existing airport presence, we can support and grow your business,” the co-founders said.

Nick Goddard-Palmer has been involved in the creation of many successful airport retail developments

The consultancy offers insight into passenger segmentation and destination analysis, terminal utilisation and development, category merchandising, concession planning and retail design along with customer spend, retail turnover and rental income modelling.

Keith Hunter is known in travel retail for his role as Senior Vice President of Qatar Duty Free for Qatar Airways. He spearheaded the Hamad International Airport retail project, designing the strategy and mix and all elements of development, through to the opening and operation of the airport in May 2014.

Hunter also served as a board member of the Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) for five years, has spoken widely at industry conferences and has participated in international delegations at the highest level.

Goddard-Palmer was the driving force behind the Hamad International Airport F&B programme and also served as CEO of DDFS at Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi and as project development manager for Cyprus airports.
