Australian winemaker Penfolds has unveiled a limited-edition release of the Penfolds Aevum Crystal Decanter into selected travel retail locations, particularly in Asia Pacific and Europe.
The sculptured decanters accompany the 2012 vintage of Penfolds’ flagship wine, Grange. Each hand-blown, hand-crafted decanter features the striking diamond cut, a signature hallmark of renowned French glassmaker Saint-Louis.
The release arises from a collaboration between Penfolds and Saint-Louis announced last month – the first time the French company has collaborated with a global brand outside Europe. The partnership celebrated the commercial release of the world’s only five 2012 Grange Imperial 6-litre bottles.
“This is the first time something of this calibre has taken place and the first time that we have collaborated with a winemaker at this level.” – Saint-Louis Chief Executive Officer Jérôme de Lavergnolle

Described as a “hand-made crystal objet d’art service vessel”, Penfolds Aevum Imperial Service Ritual was designed exclusively for the 2012 Grange Imperial to facilitate “the perfect pour”.
“The elevation of the service ritual by way of the Penfolds Aevum Imperial Service Ritual enhances the enjoyment of Grange to release aromas and flavours through aeration, and importantly delivers an unforgettable visual experience and sense of occasion,” said Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago.
Saint-Louis Chief Executive Officer Jérôme de Lavergnolle said: “The collaboration between Penfolds and Saint-Louis represents a marriage of two masters of their crafts. This is the first time something of this calibre has taken place and the first time that we have collaborated with a winemaker at this level.”
