USA. Tastes on the Fly has partnered with celebrity chef and restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten to launch The Paris Café in the new TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy Airport, New York next spring.
The cafe will be located on the site of the original Paris Café and Lisbon Lounge fitted in the 1962 TWA terminal building. The building is being converted into an airport hotel and conference centre by hotel operator MCR and Morse Development.
Tastes on the Fly CEO Michael Levine said the partnership would “bring the romance of airline travel back to JFK”, adding: “In addition to his worldwide culinary accolades, [Vongerichten] still loves being in the kitchen creating delicious food for his guests. We are honoured to be working with him.”
Strasbourg-born chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten operates 36 restaurants around the world, including four in New York. New York Magazine has written that “no single chef has had more influence on the way New Yorkers dine out”.
Tastes on the Fly runs 23 restaurants in four US airports. Its Samovar Tea Lounge & Bar at San Francisco International Airport was named Best New Food & Beverage Concept of the Year in the Americas at this year’s FAB Awards, organised by The Moodie Davitt Report.
In 2017, its Napa Farms Market business at San Francisco International Airport was named Airport Food Hall of the Year for the Americas at FAB and gained a Highly Commended award worldwide.
