P.K.Thimmayya takes over as Flemingo CEO as “strong pillar” Manishi Sanwal departs

INDIA. P.K.Thimmayya has been appointed as the new CEO of Flemingo Travel Retail as Manishi Sanwal leaves the retailer.

Paying tribute to Sanwal, who has been CEO since January 2018, Flemingo International CEO Atul Ahuja said: “Manishi has been a strong pillar of growth for Flemingo. In his tenure, he has given good growth, diversified into several new directions, fought challenging battles and kept the team spirit high. It was a difficult decision to let him go but I wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.”

Thimmayya will replace Sanwal, having played an instrumental part in developing Flemingo’s operations in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Ahuja added: “He [Thimmayya] has been instrumental in establishing and developing Colombo operations for us. Colombo delivers one of the highest retail sales per square foot for Flemingo. We hope to leverage the learnings of Colombo in our Mumbai and India operations, and wish him success and growth in Mumbai and India.”

Sanwal, who was with DFS Group prior to Flemingo Duty Free, has acquired a controlling stake in Voiceback Technologies, a company focused on providing data analytics-based solutions to business problems.
