Roger Winnewisser joins Kraft from The Nuance Group


SWITZERLAND. Swiss confectionery giant Kraft Foods World Travel Retail (KFWTR) has implemented a new regional structure designed to capitalise on the growth potential of new markets. The decision comes after a strategic review to assess the travel retail division’s operations and future direction.

In a major appointment as part of the new regional set-up, Roger Winnewisser joins from The Nuance Group as Region Director Europe / Americas, from 1 July. Jaya P. Singh will head the Middle East / Asia-Pacific region team.

In a statement unveiling the restructure, KFWTR said: “In our assessment we have come to the conclusion that we need to further regionalise our organisation structure as well as our business and portfolio approach in order to capitalise on the growth potential of some new fast emerging markets.”

From 1 July 2007, the travel retail division will create two separate geographical regions:

– Developing Region Middle East / Asia Pacific (MEAP)
– Developed Region Europe / Americas (EUAM)

Each unit will be headed by a Region Director who will report to Andreas Fehr, Managing Director – World Travel Retail.

Key new staff appointments

At the same time, Fehr announced the following personnel appointments:

Jaya P. Singh becomes Region Director MEAP, effective 1 July, 2007. Singh’s primary role will be to define and implement a region specific growth strategy for this fast-developing region, according to Fehr. He will be relocating with his family to Hong Kong towards the end of July. One of his first tasks will be to establish and appropriately staff the new North Asia office in Hong Kong, he said.

The current MEAP team will consist of:

– Rajiv Malhotra, Area Manager based in Singapore
– Sanjay Karadi – Regional Sales Manager based in Dubai
– Vacant – Area Manager based in Hong Kong
– Vacant – Regional Marketing Manager based in Hong Kong

Roger Winnewisser joins from Nuance

Roger Winnewisser is named as Region Director EUAM, effective 1 July, 2007. Winnewisser joins KFWTR from The Nuance Group, the largest global airport retailer, where he assumed various international assignments for the last seven years. More recently he was Buying/Merchandising Director Asia Pacific based in Sydney, Australia. He has many years’ experience in the travel retail sector and brings with him an in-depth retail and category management expertise across a broad range of merchandise categories, particularly the luxury and premium branded consumer product industry, said Fehr.

Winnewisser will be based in the Zürich office and his EUAM team consists of:

– Thomas Bodenmann, Area Manager based in Zürich
– Tom Rinne, Area Manager based in Helsinki
– Mathis Dreher – Area Manager based in Miami
– Petri Tapio – Regional Sales Manager based in Helsinki
– Gemma Bateson – Regional Sales Manager based in London
– Savina Krasteva – Regional Sales Manager based in Zürich
– Yolanda del Mazo – Regional Sales Manager based in Paris
