Nuance India captures Bengaluru International Airport duty free contract

INDIA. The Nuance Group, in partnership with Shoppers Stop Limited, has captured the five-year duty free concession at Bengaluru International Airport.

Nuance India has been operating the concession since 2008, and the new contract will run from May 2013 to May 2018. It includes the sale of liquor, tobacco, confectionery, fragrances & cosmetics, fashion and electronics categories.

The new concession will cover 789sq m of space in the Departures hall, of which 100sq m will be dedicated to fashion & accessories. There is also 410sq m of duty free retail space in Arrivals.

An additional 235sq m will be devoted to the electronics category, split between Arrivals and Departures. The contract will also cover a 139sq m pier shop.

Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) is India’s fourth biggest airport in terms of passenger traffic, and one of the fastest growing airports in India. Every year over 12 million passengers travel through the airport. It is host to seven domestic and 26 international airlines connecting the city to about 55 destinations across India and the rest of the world.

Nuance, through its joint venture with Shoppers Stop Ltd, has been present in the Indian travel retail market for six years. The company currently operates duty free shops at the Arrivals and Departure halls at Bengaluru International Airport. Nuance India is based out of Bangalore and recently won the Luxury & Lifestyle concession at Mumbai International Airport.
