USA. New York John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 hosted a series of activities to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year this month.
Among the highlights was T4’s Retail Lounge being decorated with cherry blossoms and red lanterns, which are said to be symbols of flourishing life and prosperous business. The lanterns will remain in place until the end of February.
As part of the T4 celebrations, beauty brand Estée Lauder installed a Lunar New Year-inspired pop-up decked out in red, the colour which represents good luck in China.
Meanwhile, at the gates, T4 staff surprised passengers boarding flights on Xiamen Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Hainan Airlines, China Airlines and China Southern Airlines bound for destinations throughout Asia. Travellers were given red envelopes and treated to lion dances.
JFK T4 serves 34 international and domestic airlines and served more than 21 million travellers in 2018. It is operated by JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT), a private management company led by Schiphol Group.
JFKIAT President and CEO Roel Huinink said: “We wish our passengers and everyone in the New York area a happy and fortuitous Year of the Pig. We hope that the Lunar New Year festivities added a memorable touch to our passengers’ travelling experience.”
