INDIA. Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) will commence international operations in the new Terminal 2 on Wednesday 12 February, following its official inauguration last month.
Commercial space covers over 200,000sq ft at the ambitious new facility with an extensive line-up of retail, food & beverage and other consumer services. [We’ll bring you a further report with a focus on the retail concessions shortly.]
The terminal will welcome its first arrival – an Air India flight from Singapore Changi – at 1pm, while the first departure will be a Jet Airways flight to London Heathrow at the same time.
This will begin the immediate transition from the old terminal, with all arriving and departing flights moving across to the new terminal. Domestic terminal flights and transfers will be unaffected by this transition.

Since its inauguration on 10 January, the terminal has undergone a comprehensive security sweep as well as the final stages of its Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT).
As part of the ORAT process GVK MIAL undertook familiarisation processes for airlines, ground handling staff, security, customs, immigration and MIAL employees. This was to help get them acquainted with the terminal building, new technologically advanced systems, facilities and processes.
