AUSTRIA. Austrian liqueur specialist Mozart Distillerie has launched a new chocolate spirit called Mozart Dry.
Described as a “spirits innovation”, Mozart Dry is a crystal-clear distilled spirit with 40% abv presented in a 700ml bottle.
Thanks to in-depth research, the company claims it has invented a process that allows distilling natural chocolate macerate.
The combination of traditional natural ingredients with a modern distillation process is said to provide a crystal-clear product with strong, crisp chocolate aroma and long-lasting bitter-sweet, dry finish.
Mozart Dry has been launched initially in Germany, where it is being introduced to bars and clubs as an exciting new base for mixer drinks and cocktails.
The product is being paired with fruits, herbs and spices in a number of cocktails – dubbed by the company CHOCtails – devised by several famous bartenders.
In 2010, the company is making Mozart Dry available to more countries in Europe and to Australia.

Reflecting the original XOCOLATL drink of the Aztecs rather than today’s chocolate, Mozart Dry is made directly from the untreated raw materials cacao and vanilla. The sugar content is 0.0 g/l.
