CHINA/ASIA. The Moodie Davitt Report has created a new Hong Kong-based company, Moodie Davitt Asia Ltd, and announced a new WeChat platform to be launched in early 2021.
Moodie Davitt Asia will become the group’s worldwide operational headquarters, led by Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie, based in Hong Kong, China. Financial operations will continue to be centred in the UK.
“Asia in general and China specifically will be the engine room of the travel retail sector for many years to come and it is vital we have a permanent presence here,” said Moodie. “This move underlines our commitment to China. It will allow us to develop an intimate understanding of this extraordinary market and help us to progress a number of exciting projects we have in the pipeline.”
The new company will launch its WeChat title in coming weeks – the first international travel retail publishing house to launch on the platform. It will offer a combination of China-specific and international news pertaining to the duty free, travel retail, aviation, and airport commercial revenue sectors from advertising and food & beverage to domestic terminal retail and ecommerce.
“The Moodie Davitt Report is already extremely well-read and respected in China but by launching on WeChat we will deepen our market penetration and readership throughout China and across all sectors of the airport and travel retail communities,” said Moodie.
